Welcome to the website of the Jersey Symphony Orchestra. We run a high quality pro-am orchestra based in Jersey in the Channel Islands, 90 miles South of mainland Britain and 14 miles West of Normandy, France. On these pages, we will tell you about the Orchestra and its past and future concerts. The Orchestra is made up of around 60 local musicians and a further 40 or so are guests. The main object of the Orchestra is to promote, improve, develop and maintain public education in, and appreciation of, the art and science of music by the formation and organisation of an orchestra to present public concerts. A subsidiary objective is to improve the standards of playing of everyone in the orchestra. The Orchestra’s first concert was performed in December 1986. The Orchestra’s policy, developed over the years, is to present 3 concerts per year, with programmes to suit the season and to cater for the varying tastes of our audience. |
